The workshop will bring together experts from nuclear physics, astrophysics, and cold atomic gases to develop an improved understanding of the physics of strongly interacting matter, with a particular focus on neutron stars. The workshop will focus on the following main goals:

* To survey observational data on neutron star masses, radii, tidal deformability and moment of inertia, and to understand all aspects in the modeling processes needed to extract these.
 
* To improve our understanding of matter with low proton concentrations encountered in neutron stars at around nuclear density.
 
* To determine whether or not phases with non-spherical nuclei (pasta phases) are stable.
 
* To understand the dynamics of pasta phases in neutron stars and supersolid phases in cold Fermi gases.
 
* To better pin down the equation of state at supranuclear densities.
 
* To understand the physical origin of the maximum in the sound velocity at high densities deduced from observations of neutron stars.
 
* To explore constraints on the properties of dense matter from nuclear experiments in the laboratory.
 
* To explore possible cold gas experiments that could illuminate unresolved issues
