Quantum science and computing are advancing at an unprecedented pace, driven by rapid progress in hardware and theory, and are becoming central to modern science and technology. At the same time, quantum information has emerged as a deeply interdisciplinary field, bridging condensed matter, molecular physics, quantum optics, and high-energy physics. In this timely context, the fourth edition of Quantum Science Generation (QSG) 2026 provides a focused training and exchange platform for young researchers entering or expanding their expertise in quantum technologies. The workshop features in-depth modules on advanced topics in quantum computation alongside state-of-the-art overviews of leading quantum computing platforms, complemented by contributed talks and discussions. By bringing together established experts and early-career researchers, QSG 2026 fosters cross-disciplinary dialogue, collaboration, and new insights that are crucial for advancing the rapidly evolving field of quantum computing.
The event is aimed at graduate students and junior researchers who wish to deepen their expertise or enter the field of quantum technologies for the first time, by featuring a combination of dedicated lectures and topical seminars.
- Advanced lectures on different pathways to fault-tolerant quantum computing:
- Quantum information with continuous variables: from quantum computing to bosonic error-correcting codes
- Measurement-based quantum computing: universality, foundations and fault-tolerance
- The tumultuous road from NISQ to FTQC; error mitigation, error correction, and algorithms
- Topical seminars on the state of the art of leading quantum computing platforms:
- Neutral atoms
- Trapped ions
- Photonics
- Superconducting circuits
Lecturers:
- Giulia Ferrini (Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden)
- Robert Raussendorf (Leibniz University Hannover, Germany)
- Xavier Bonet-Monroig (Honda Research Institute Europe GmbH)
Invited speakers:
- Marcus Huber (Technical University Vienna & Institute of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information, Austria)
- Martin Ringbauer (University of Innsbruck, Austria)
- Florian Meinert (University of Stuttgart, Germany)
