Description

Fragmentation beam facilities provide an efficient way to produce neutron-rich isotopes, and study the evolution of nuclear structure away from beta-stability. I will present recent work on time-of-flight mass measurement experiments at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory, aimed at extending the reach of this sensitive mass measurement technique to isotopes relevant to r-process nucleosynthesis models. I will also discuss the perspectives for r-process experiments at the future Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB).
